NEW DELHI, August 9, 2025— Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee president Shri Devender Yadav today unfurled the National Flag at the historic Town Hall Chowk, Chandni Chowk, to mark August Krantii Diwas on the anniversary of Quit India Day. Shri Devender Yadav said that for the free air we breathe today, lakhs of people had sacrificed their lives to get freedom for the country, as on this day on 9th August 1942, Mahatma Gandhi launched the “Do or Die”agitation against the British rulers to signal the Quit India Movement, after which the British had to quit the country on 15th August 1947.

On the Occasion Besides DPCC President Shri Devender Yadav others presents were former Delhi Minister Shri Haroon Yusuf, Ex MLA and Communication Deptt. Chairmman Shri Anil Bhardwaj, Ex MLAs Shri Hari Shankar Gupta, Shri Asif Mohd Khan, DCC Observer Dr P K Mishra, DCC Presidents Javed Mirza, Dharam Pal Chandela, Raj Kumar Jain and Satbir Sharma, Mehmood Zia, Mohd Usman, Rahul Sharma, Abdul Wahid, Abha Choudhary, Kamal Arora, Naresh Sharma Nitu, Rahul Dhabla, Sunil Bajaj and Rahul Dhanak.
Shri Devender Yadav said that he was proud that he was a soldier of the Congress party which led the freedom movement to secure independence and in the rebuilding and development of the country.
He said that 9th August is a day to remember the revolutionaries who were martyred for the freedom of the country. He said that the sacrifice of those revolutionaries cannot be forgottenas they paid with their loves for the independence of the country.
He said that the British rulers put more than 60 thousand people in jail as the freedom movement spread to all parts of the country, including top Congress leaders and workers, women, students, farmers and workers who joined the freedom movement at the call of Mahatma Gandhi.
Shri Devender Yadav said that the shameful conspiracy of BJP to steal votes has killed democratic values in independent India, as the country was always hailed as a world model for its transparent and honest election process with every voter casting his or her vote without fear or favour, and without any rancor for any community or caste.
He said that it was indeed a blot on the democratic profile of the county when the BJP committed electoral fraud to steal the votes and the election to remain in power in a scrupleless manner.
He said that the BJP betrayed the faith and trust of 140crore people of the country, the Constitut ion and the democratic system. He said that India democracy is recious but the BJP wants to destroy the democratic foundation of the country by stealing the votes.
Shri Devender Yadav said that Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Shri Rahul Gandhi had been raising questions on the working style of the Election Commission while exposing the conspiracy of the BJP and the Election Commission for a long time. Citing the example of the fraud and vote theft in Mahadevapuram in Karnataka, Shri Rahul Gandhi had made it clear that the Election Commission and the BJP have been colluding to steal the elections.
He said that today the people of the country are demanding answers as to why the Opposition is not being given the digital voter list, why the evidence of CCTV and video is being erased and why bogus voting and tampering of the voter list is being dones, and at whose behest? He asked why should the Opposition leaders are being intimidated and at whose bidding the Election Commission whether it is an agent of the BJP?
